Reporter Stephanie Hanes and photographer Jeffrey Barbee have traveled across southern and central Africa on a Pulitzer Center project to gauge the environmental consequences of human conflict, efforts at restoration and strategies to protect economically vital environmental resources in future conflicts. Their reports are appearing in newspaper, television and magazine accounts.
