The Economist Film Project, a film documentary contest in partnership with PBS Newshour has selected "The Edge of Joy" as one of its first round winners.

"The Edge of Joy" follows an ensemble cast of Nigerian doctors, midwives and families to the frontlines of maternal care. Inside a maternity ward, the film chronicles distressed labors, deaths and survival.

Selected films and the topics they explore will be the subject of news segments airing regularly on PBS NewsHour beginning in March 2011 and continuing through 2011 and into 2012.
