Introduction by Sheila Coronel, Director, Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism, Columbia University.

Panelists will address the challenges and prospects for international reporting today.

Featuring:

Pulitzer Center director Jon Sawyer, a former Washington Bureau chief for the St. Louis Post Dispatch. His recent reporting on Darfur and the Caucasus has been featured in newspaper, radio and television broadcasts nation-wide.
Pulitzer grant recipients:

Reporter Stephanie Hanes traveled across southern and central Africa to gauge the environmental consequences of human conflict with photographer Jeffrey Barbee. Their reports are appearing in newspaper, television and magazine accounts.

Reporter Mvemba Phezo Dizolele traveled through Congo to cover one of the most under-reported conflicts in the world today. His reports on the elections, small arms trade, and the role of Coltan in the conflict have appeared in The New York Times, the St. Louis Post Dispatch, and on Public television and radio broadcasts.

Reporter Stéphanie Giry, a senior editor at Foreign Affairs, traveled to Cambodia with French attorney Jacques Vergès on a visit to his client Khieu Samphan, the former Khmer Rouge president of Cambodia. Her reporting has been featured in Newsweek International and will be forthcoming in Mother Jones.
