Warm Up: Students review images from Everyday Africa and brainstorm techniques that make photos pop for viewers
Introducing the Lesson: Students explore a video from photojournalist Allison Shelley about techniques used by photojournalists to capture viewers' attention, and then practice identifying those techniques in images from the Everyday Africa project.
Extension Activity: Students practice a variety of photojournalism techniques used to tell stories and ultimately compose four photographs that use photography techniques to help communicate stories of everyday life in their communities.
