Joshua Kucera traveled the length of the conventional border between Europe and Asia, from Istanbul's Bosphorus to the Russian Arctic. Along the way he explored the historical, political, cultural, and geopolitical reasons that the border got to be where it is—asking what it means for the people living along it to be in between East and West, Europe and Asia.
