Facebook is the primary digital communication platform in Myanmar, and in 2018, there was a lot of talk about Facebook posts fueling ethnic tension and violence against Myanmar's Muslim minority, including the Rohingya. Shaina Shealy spoke to dozens of women about their experiences on the platform. While some women told stories about facing hate speech and sexual harassment online, others said Facebook provided them with new opportunities for business, activism, and organizing.
