The impact of global warming is clear: icecaps are melting, glaciers are disappearing, fish populations are shrinking, oil, gas and mineral resources beneath the icecap are now more readily accessible. Human settlements must deal with these changes by adapting, relocating or, in some cases, even abandoning their villages.

Correspondent Yves Eudes discusses his six-part series for Le Monde, a project that assesses climate change and human change in several communities above the Arctic Circle.
