Pulitzer Center 2021 Reporting Fellow Jamaija Rhoades will return to her alma mater, Hampton University, on October 11 and 12, 2023, to talk about her experiences as an early-career journalist.

While visiting classes and speaking with students, she will also discuss how her reporting Fellowship contributed to her success.

Rhoades is the associate editor of the International Journalists’ Network (IJNet), the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ)’s website, which delivers the latest on global media innovation, news apps and tools, and professional opportunities in eight languages.

While at Hampton, Rhoades was a staff writer for the opinion section of The Hampton Script, the university's newspaper, as well as for Her Campus, an online college magazine geared toward women. She graduated from Hampton with a bachelor’s in journalism.

In her 2021 Pulitzer Center project, Racism in Richmond Public Schools, Rhoades brings awareness to racial disparities in the Richmond, Virginia, school district.
