Foreign aid has played a critical role in improving health, education, and the overall development of low and middle-income countries. Development assistance is not, however, without its challenges or critics. The generosity of outsiders is sometimes misplaced when local cultures are misunderstood, local industries and initiatives are displaced, or avarice and corruption worm their way into the equation.

Join us at Boston University on Friday, March 1 for a conversation on foreign aid with keynote speaker Rear Adm. Tim Ziemer of the President's Malaria Initiative. A panel follows his remarks featuring Pulitzer Center grantee Sam Loewenberg, photographer Mary Calvert, and BU Public Health professor Taryn Vian. Moderators are Jon Sawyer, Pulitzer Center Executive Director, and Jon Simon, Director of the Center for Global Health & Development.

This event is sponsored by the BU Program on Crisis Response and Reporting, an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, College of Communication, School of Public Health, and the Center for Global Health and Development. BU is a member of the Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium initiative.
