The Accountability Research Center, together with the Washington College of Law and the Pulitzer Center is organizing “From Exposé to Policy Solutions in Seafood Supply Chains” on Thursday, February 29. The session, available for participation in-person and online, brings together journalists and experts to focus on issues ranging from human trafficking to illegal fishing.

Steve Sapienza of the Pulitzer Center will introduce Squid Fleet, a film from The Outlaw Ocean Project series Bait-to-Plate. It tells the story of fishers and the conditions they endure on the Chinese fleet.

Then, an expert panel will discuss worker experiences and gaps in trade and commercial policies in the global seafood supply chain, pathways to remedy, security dimensions of illegal fishing, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation.

Judy Gearhart of the Accountability Research Center, will moderate the conversation between Ian Urbina (The Outlaw Ocean Project), Martina Vandenberg (Human Trafficking Legal Center), Sally Yozell (Stimson Center), and Molly McCoy (U.S. Department of Labor).

Registration for in-person and for online ticket via Eventbrite.
