How can poetry be an effective response to current events and the issues impacting our communities? How can journalism and poetry help us make connections between global issues and our local and personal contexts?

Join the Pulitzer Center Education team on Tuesday, April 23rd, 4:30 - 5:30 pm CDT for a virtual workshop to learn more about how thousands of students have used poetry as a tool for close reading, connecting with global stories, and raising their voices through the Fighting Words Poetry Contest. In this workshop for educators, we’ll explore the Fighting Words Poetry Contest resources so you can facilitate this workshop for your students and encourage them to enter.

Access complete Fighting Words Poetry Contest guidelines as well as support resources for educators and students on the contest portal. Read last year's winning poems here. Entries are due Sunday, May 12th.
