Recife will host the 4th edition of the FALA! Communication, Culture, and Journalism of Causes Festival on September 21-23. The event will take place at the Cais do Sertão Cultural Center and aims to promote a debate about the future of journalism and its role in society from a popular perspective, with cultural diversity and knowledge as its premises.

The Pulitzer Center will be part of the FALA! Festival, offering its support for the festival's execution and the development of three activities that will contribute to the growth of this unique ecosystem of cause-driven journalism in Brazil. Firstly, by organizing a photographic exhibition called "Relatos do Antropoceno" (Anthropocene Chronicles), an exhibition that delves into reflections on the Anthropocene era, highlighting the intimate interdependence we share with nature. Key biomes such as the Amazon and the ocean will be emphasized, as well as their relation to the climate crisis and solutions to combat it.

Throughout this exhibition, the audience will have access to resources and content provided by the Rainforest Journalism Fund and the Ocean Reporting Network to deepen their understanding of climate issues and those related to biodiversity and local communities.

Additionally, Karla Mendes, a Rainforest Investigations Network Fellow, will take part in a conversation titled "Incidências climáticas: Meio ambiente e direito à vida em pauta" (Climate Incidences: Environment and the Right to Life on the Agenda). This discussion will explore how, with 85% of the population living in urban areas, the coverage of the climate crisis and climate change must address, in addition to biomes, environmental issues in urban centers that affect people's lives and shape the right to the city.

Lastly, the Pulitzer Center will share with the audience in an informative talk the opportunities for journalists and communicators to become part of our model of journalism, education, and outreach, as well as how the Pulitzer Center's model is advancing in the region.
