Award-winning documentary photographer Andrea Bruce wants Americans to examine what democracy looks like in their local communities and everyday lives. Our Democracy is her two-year, open study of democracy across the United States. Her photo record will appear in a forthcoming issue of National Geographic.
Bruce invites Americans of all ages to contribute their own reporting on democracy to her project and is currently exploring ways to publish citizen journalism alongside her work online. The following collection of lessons, video resources, and teaching ideas offers gateways into Our Democracy for teachers and students in the United States and abroad. The collection will continue to grow over the next two years as Bruce travels the country.
