Janeen Heath, Communication and Production Specialist
Janeen Heath joined the Pulitzer Center team in August of 2007. She is responsible for various reporting project administrative tasks, promotion and outreach as well as supervising the maintenance of the website and general online profiles. She coordinates efforts with Azimuth Media and assists with video production. She also manages event planning and aspiring journalist contests, university and high school engagement nationwide and harnessing new online media to strengthen Pulitzer Center’s mission.
Prior to the Pulitzer Center, Janeen worked as an intern in the media department at the International Crisis Group and as a volunteer at the Alliance Française of Seattle.
Janeen holds a B.A. in communication – broadcast news from the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication as well as a B.A. in political science – global affairs, and minors in French and global studies (conflict resolution) from Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
While in Pullman, Janeen worked for KUGR radio as a news reporter and for Cable 8 News as an anchor, reporter and director. During the 2006-2007 academic year, students elected Janeen to the position of Vice President of the Associated Students of WSU. Her role as Vice President took her to universities across the U.S. as well as to the state capitol lobbying the legislature and governor on higher education issues. For her University Honors College thesis, she studied in France, conducting research on France’s Muslim population and national identity issues. She later presented her thesis at two conferences and ultimately earned the Dean’s Award for her research.
She was born and raised in Seattle, Washington yet bleeds crimson and gray.
