Amanda Coakley

GRANTEE

Amanda Coakley is an independent journalist working in broadcast, print and radio.

She has reported for The Irish Times, The National (UAE), The Financial Times, NBC Euronews, Deutsche Welle, BBC Radio 4, RTÉ and Channel 4 News.

In 2018 she was one of the first foreign journalists in the world to interview Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan and her coverage of the Venezuelan migrant crisis in Colombia was supported by The Simon Cumbers Fund. 

She was awarded a George Weidenfeld Fellowship in late 2019 to report for Deutsche Welle in Bonn and Berlin. 

Prior to her career in journalism she was a publisher at Penguin Random House in London. She holds a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Drama and Performance Studies from University College Dublin where she was an Ad Astra Scholar.

In 2017 she received her Gold Standard NCTJ diploma in Multimedia Journalism from News Associates UK.
