Michael Tarm

GUEST CONTRIBUTOR

Michael Tarm is an Associated Press legal affairs writer based in Chicago who has reported for over a decade on everything from political corruption to drug cartels.

One of his most recent assignments included covering 10 federal executions from a death chamber in Terre Haute, Indiana. Tarm has focused over the years on how the embrace of social media by street gangs has fundamentally transformed how they operate.

Before coming to Chicago, Tarm wrote for the AP from the Baltic countries on their successful bids to join NATO and the European Union following the collapse of the Soviet Union, and their strained relationship with Russia.
