COVID-19 Batters Zimbabwe’s Female Cross-Border Traders

Country:

Author:

This project investigates the hidden or untold impact of COVID-19 on the once thriving enterprises of female cross-border traders.

As borders closed because of public health concerns, thousands of women suddenly found themselves without sources of income. They soon found themselves facing new health concerns as some turned to truckers who were still allowed to travel across borders, and would spend weeks stuck at the border providing a new kind of business for desperate women.
