Pulitzer Center Grantees Listed for One World Media Awards

One World Media released its 2015 list of journalism award nominees, with several Pulitzer Center grantees making the cut. Among those grantees are Ty McCormick for the New Voice Award, which considers "the young filmmaker or journalist working in any medium who has made a substantial contribution to international journalism during the year." The top three nominees in each category will be announced in late April, and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on June 18 in London.

Journalists who have been nominated for Pulitzer Center-supported reporting include:

New Voice Award: For the young filmmaker or journalist working in any medium who has made a substantial contribution to international journalism during the year.

Ty McCormick for The Washington Post and Foreign Policy magazine articles, included in his Pulitzer Center-supported project, "When Militiamen Rule."

Refugee Reporting Award: For a piece of media, including broadcast, online, print or film, that covers refugee and asylum-seeker issues through accurate and fair reporting.

Jenna Krajeski for her Harper's Magazine article, Marooned at the Mall: Iraq's forgotten Christians in Kurdish exile, part of her Pulitzer Center-supported project, "Life After Prison: Kurdish Stone-Throwing Kids."

Documentary Award: For a documentary film that deals with stories, topics or issues in, about or related to the developing world.

Fiona Lloyd-Davies and Studio 9 Films for the Pulitzer Center-supported film, Seeds of Hope.

Press Award: For a feature article published in print or online that deals with stories, topics or issues in, about or related to the developing world.

Caryle Murphy for her GlobalPost article "Laws of Men: In Saudi Arabia, women are still assigned male 'guardians,'" included in her Pulitzer Center-supported project, "Saudi Arabia's Shifting Islamic Landscape."

Popular Features Award: For a piece of media, including broadcast, online, print or film, that deals with stories, topics or issues in, about or related to the developing world through creative treatment of an issue, with an aim of attracting wider audiences.

Ty McCormick for his National Geographic article, "Wrestling Keeps 'Identity of Nuba' Alive in Sudanese Refugee Camps", from his Pulitzer Center-supported project, "When Militiamen Rule."

International Journalist of the Year Award: For a filmmaker or journalist working in any medium who has made the most outstanding contribution to international journalism during the past year.

Allyn Gaestel and Allison Shelley for their article, "Women, peace and security in Democratic Republic of the Congo," featured in Guardian, Global Development.

Digital Media Award: For websites, interactive online features, apps, interactive documentaries and other digital technologies that use creative and innovative techniques and content to extend knowledge and understanding of, and engagement with, the developing world.

Jessica Hatcher and Phil Moore and Charlotte Cans for "South Sudan Shattered Dreams" on IRIN News.
