In October, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki ordered all the Kurdish flags to be taken down in Khanaqin, a city with a largely Kurdish population. The city is one of several disputed territories that Iraqi lawmakers have argued over since the removal of Saddam Hussein eight years ago.
