Cole McCann-Phillips
2022 GENDER EQUALITY REPORTING FELLOW
Since moving to Morocco the day after he graduated from high school, Cole has spent his intellectual and academic career focusing on the Middle East and North Africa. Having lived in Rabat, Morocco; Tunis, Tunisia; and Istanbul, Turkey for much of the last three years, he has formed a close connection to the history, culture, and politics of the region. In 2022 he decided to take some time off from studying at the University of Pennsylvania, where he focuses on the history of the Middle East, to report from Beirut, Lebanon.
