Journalist Sergio Silva Numa, from Universidad Externado de Colombia, works for the newspaper El Espectador, where he is editor of Science, Health and Environment.

He has worked at El Tiempo and has been a contributor to Mutante. He has a master's degree in Latin American studies and is a professor at Universidad Javeriana.

He is pursuing a master's degree in public health at the Universidad de los Andes.

In 2017 he won the Simon Bolivar Award in the reporting category, and in 2014 he received the Amway award for environmental journalism. He was also a winner of the Rosalynn Carter Scholarship for mental health journalism, and in 2019 he won the Child Nutrition Award from Fundación Éxito.
