With more than 1 million COVID-19 cases in early 2021, the Indonesian government is racing against time to beat the virus. On January 14, the government rolled out mass inoculation using CoronaVac - the vaccine produced by Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac.

But the road to herd immunity is long and winding. Indonesia struggled with data problems, geographical challenges, and high vaccine hesitancy rates.
