Oil Drilling in National Park Roars On Despite Environmental Protests

Country:

Author:

This Al Jazeera feature will expose how a controversial project to build oil wells in a national park in Uganda was justified through an environmental impact assessment and an elephant impact study funded by TotalEnergies, which found the impact would be minimal.

These studies were never followed up by government ones, as required by Ugandan law. Yet, it would be the first such project to be executed in a national park in Africa.
