The following is an English summary of the video Penutupan Sementara, from Mentawai Kita. The video, in bahasa Indonesia, is after the summary.

Mentawai is a regency consisting of islands within the province of West Sumatra. This geographical condition is blessed by the abundance of fisheries resources. Particularly in the southernmost village of the Mentawai archipelago, the majority of its residents depend on marine products for a living.

However, Sinaka village's marine wealth is slowly diminishing due to bombs from outside fishermen, exploitative and non-selective fishing.

To maintain the sustainability of fisheries resources in Sinaka, the village government, the village Consultative Body, and the community made a village regulation on sustainable traditional fisheries area governance.

The regulation includes protecting traditional fisheries fishing areas as far as 2 miles, limiting the size of the weight of marine biota that can be caught, and prohibiting the use of dangerous fishing gear such as potassium, detergents, and bombs. Sinaka village has also temporarily closed several fishing locations with the aim that the resources there have the opportunity to grow both in terms of number and weight.
