Clare Fieseler

Clare Fieseler is a journalist, conservation biologist and National Geographic explorer who is currently an investigative reporter covering climate and environment for Charleston's Post and Courier, South Carolina’s largest newspaper. She also writes the newspaper's weekly climate newsletter, RISING WATERS, which covers the American South.

She completed her Mass Media Fellowship at The Washington Post in 2019. She has written for numerous outlets, including National Geographic, Slate, Vox, Hakai, and Science Magazine

In addition, she conducted field research on coral reefs and climate-threatened marine mammals for over a decade. Her last research position was at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where she still holds a non-paid research appointment. 

Fieseler’s book about women in science, No Boundaries: 25 Women Explorers and Scientists Share Adventures, Inspiration, and Advice, was published in February 2022 by National Geographic. It won the 2022 Best STEM Book award from the National Science Teachers Association.
