Jyoti Madhusoodanan is a freelance journalist based in Portland, Oregon. She covers health and science for Nature, Science, Undark, and several other outlets. She earned a PhD in microbiology and meandered through various science-writing gigs before making her way to the UC Santa Cruz Science Communication Program in 2014. Her reporting on health has been supported by fellowships from MIT’s Knight Science Journalism Program, the Association of Health Care Journalists, the National Press Foundation, and others.
