POSTPONED: 'After Lockdown: Life for the Formerly Incarcerated' Town Hall

The "After Lockdown: Life for the Formerly Incarcerated" Town Hall breaks new ground by detailing the depth of racial bias against formerly incarcerated adults who struggle to reintegrate into society. Join the Charlotte Post Foundation on Thursday, November 4, 2021, and hear from panelists Michael Watkins and Saichelle McNeill.

The virtual town hall conversation will be moderated by Tiffany Capers, executive director of Crossroads Corporation, and will be hosted by the Charlotte Post Foundation’s event team. 

Pulitzer Center grantee Ashley Mahoney tells the story of formerly incarcerated Watkins and McNeill in the Pulitzer Center-supported project After Lockdown: Life for the Formerly Incarcerated.

The three-part series includes reporting on how societal and racial bias prevents people with criminal records from education, jobs, housing, and even parental rights, and what can be done to change the situation.

In addition to reporting for the print edition, website, podcast series, and a mini-documentary, the town hall will engage with a call to action with stakeholders, the formerly incarcerated, and activists.
